Seven-time ARIA Award winner Genesis Owusu is a bold, unwavering and singular force in contemporary music. The Ghanaian-Australian artist returns to the Odeon in October for a Tasmanian-exclusive performance in celebration of his latest studio album, ‘REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE’—an eclectic musical journey where neo-soul feeds into alt-pop, synth-punk descends into funk, and genre borders dissolve into a vibrantly layered soundscape. A state-of-the-day record that’s experiential yet cohesive, and unflinching but free, its sharpened lyricism is a piercing commentary of the turmoil of contemporary society. 

Genesis Owusu took the world by storm with his dynamo 2021 debut ‘Smiling With No Teeth’—which ranked #1 in Rolling Stone Australia’s Best Australian Albums of the 2020s So Far—follow-up by his 2023 LP, ‘Struggler’, which claimed three ARIA Awards including Album of the Year. 

Renowned for his high-energy shows that blur the lines between live concert, performance art and rallying cry, Owusu’s live reputation has seen him share stages with the likes of Tame Impala and Paramore, and play festivals including Lollapalooza and Primavera Sound.
